CPP30821 Certificate III in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing

Overview

This comprehensive course delivers the required knowledge and skills for industry professionals to take their career to the next level.

These technicians perform non-trade installation, commissioning and complex servicing of fire protection systems and are often tasked with supervising fire protection services work.

At the Certificate III level, fire protection technicians may specialise in certain types of systems such as:

  • installing and commissioning pre-engineered fire-suppression systems,
  • installing gaseous fire-suppression system cylinders and actuators,
  • conducting complex servicing of fire protection systems,
  • performing annual system flow testing.

Units of Study

To successfully complete this qualification you must complete 16 units of competency; 6 core units and 10 elective units.

  • BSBPEF301 Organise personal work priorities.
  • CPPCMN2002 Participate in workplace safety arrangements.
  • CPPFES2004 Identify and report on types of installed fire safety equipment and systems.
  • CPPFES2005 Demonstrate first attack firefighting equipment.
  • CPPFES2006 Prepare for installation and servicing operations.
  • CPPFES2007 Maintain quality of work and promote continuous improvement.

Elective Units

  • CPPFES2003 Safely move loads and dangerous goods.
  • CPPFES2047 Inspect and test control and indicating equipment.
  • CPPFES3024 Inspect and maintain portable foam-generating equipment.
  • CPPFES3032 Conduct enclosure integrity testing.
  • CPPFES3038 Inspect, test and maintain portable fire monitors.
  • CPPFES3040 Install passive fire and smoke containment systems.
  • CPPFES3042 Install and commission pre-engineered fire-suppression systems.
  • CPPFES3044 Interpret installation requirements for gaseous fire-suppression systems.
  • CPPFES3045 Install gaseous agent containers and actuators.
  • CPPFES3046 Decommission gaseous agent containers and actuators.
  • CPCPFS3042 Conduct annual functional testing of complex water-based fire-suppression systems.
  • CPCPFS3043 Conduct functional water flow testing.
